Starting point

The client runs a van-upfitting operation on Odoo alongside a set of third-party apps, all covered by an ongoing monthly support package.

Work arrived from several directions at once: warehouse barcode labels began printing escaped markup instead of the intended text, a third-party loan-management app could not be installed cleanly, and the team needed a client-facing board to track orders plus a clearer calendar.

Constraints

  • Because the affected software was vendor-supplied, changes had to be made inside those modules and deployed without disrupting day-to-day production.
  • Each item had to be resolved at its source rather than worked around.

Scope

  • The label-printing defect fixed in the third-party label-designer module with safe-markup rendering, deployed staging-first and then to production.
  • The third-party loan-management app hardened: the vendor marketing payload stripped to a fraction of its shipped size, vendor-shipped duplicate access-control rows repaired, and a dependency shim wired so the module self-installs on every environment rebuild.
  • A web order and tracking board with reported, in-progress, and resolved statuses.

    Triage & Stabilize

    Inventoried the reported issues across the third-party app stack and prioritized the label-printing defect, traced to the label template rendering escaped markup. Fixed it in the third-party label-designer module with safe-markup rendering, deployed staging-first and then to production.

    Repair the Financing Module

    Hardened the third-party loan-management app installed for customer and supplier financing: stripped the vendor marketing payload to a fraction of its shipped size, repaired the vendor-shipped duplicate access-control rows that crashed every install, and wired a dependency shim so the module self-installs on every environment rebuild.

    Ship Client-Facing Tracking

    Built a web order and tracking board with reported, in-progress, and resolved statuses, backed by a weekly shipping report that groups completed deliveries by ship week. Added a base-components bill-of-materials export to spreadsheet with on-hand plus forecast figures.
